Woodside Energy Sponsorships

Woodside Energy is an ongoing supporter of Leeuwin’s youth development programs, acknowledging the benefits of Leeuwin Ocean Adventure’s voyages for the development of young people.

Woodside Energy Marine Career Sponsorship

The Woodside Marine Career  Sponsorship supports young people aged 14-25, who reside in WA and who are interested in a career in the marine environment or the maritime industry, to join one of Leeuwin Ocean Adventure’s voyages.

Time you spend on a Leeuwin voyage, including volunteering time (upon rating following the initial voyage), can contribute to obtaining your maritime qualifications, as sea service (aka sea-time), including for Certificate II Maritime Operations – Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal and Certificate III Maritime Operations – Master <24m Near Coastal.

The Woodside Energy Marine Career Sponsorship contributes to the full voyage fare, excluding the cost of transport to and from the ship.

Woodside Energy Cadetship Program

Applications are open to young people seeking a career in the maritime industry to be one of two Woodside Energy Leeuwin Maritime Cadets in 2023.

The twelve-month cadetship is a unique combination of fully funded study, on-the-job training and opportunities for work-experience with maritime operators.

Woodside Energy sponsorship of the cadetship provides funding for the following training:

  • Certificate III Maritime Operations – Master <24m Near Coastal
  • Certificate III Maritime Operations – Marine Engine Driver (MED2)
  • STCW95 Certificate of Safety training
  • AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness
  • Provide First Aid
  • Other relevant training when available
  • Oral assessment requirements
  • Contribution to sea service
  • Training by Leeuwin Ocean Adventure’s professional crew

Leeuwin Ocean Adventure provides support from industry trained professionals and mentoring to give each cadet the best possible chance of meeting all of the objectives of the course and successfully completing the units of study and assessments.

Woodside Energy – Leeuwin Maritime Cadets can expect to spend up to half the year at sea! It is a rigorous program with outstanding results.

Woodside Energy Exchange Program

Each year, up to three crew exchanges are offered to outstanding crew or volunteer crew for an experience on board another vessel.

This opportunity is awarded to those who sail on STS Leeuwin II and are interested in further developing their personal and professional skills.

Riverwijs Maritime Cadetship Program

The Riverwijs Maritime Cadetship Program offers a twelve-month sponsored program including fully funded study and on the job training with Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation and other maritime operators in Fremantle. Since 2019, Riverwijs has offered a cadetship to an individual with a genuine aspiration for a career at sea.
